In the pre-surgical examination, the type of gynecomastia is determined to identify whether the mass is composed of just fatty tissue or glandular tissue. There are three main types of gynecomastia: glandular, lipomatous (also known as false gynecomastia), and mixed type. Glandular gynecomastia is caused by an increase in woman-like breast tissue, whereas lipomatous gynecomastia is characterized by an increase in fatty tissue. Mixed gynecomastia involves an increase in both breast tissue and fatty tissue.

The type of anesthesia used during the surgery depends on the type of gynecomastia surgery. Sedation anesthesia is usually sufficient for liposuction, and patients can go home immediately after the surgery. As a preference, sedation anesthesia is usually preferred as it allows the patient to sleep during the surgery and wake up immediately after the surgery is over without feeling any pain.

Method of Gynecomastia Surgery?

I preferably apply liposuction (closed technique) for my patients. By this means, it is possible to remove the fatty and breast tissue inside from the holes only small cannulas can enter in without leaving any scar on the breast, and without damaging the brown part. In this technique I apply, the breast and fatty tissues can easily be taken out homogeneously. Not only fats, also the breast tissues can easily be removed by using special cannulas. Even if a sagging occurs in the skin by liposuction method, this situation can be treated, and reduction is provided in the skin from the day one. Approximately 1 month after, even the most sagging breasts can be completely corrected by liposuction. And sometimes on the contrary there may be patients who have breast tissue under the very small, very hard nipple; the gynecomastia I applied in these patients can be fixed by the liposuction technique.

I prefer to use liposuction (closed technique) for my patients, which allows me to remove fatty and breast tissue through small holes using small cannulas without leaving any scars on the breast or damaging the surrounding tissue. With this technique, I can easily remove breast and fatty tissue in a uniform manner, and even the most sagging breasts can be corrected within a month of the procedure.

In cases where patients have breast tissue under a small, hard nipple, gynecomastia can be treated using the liposuction technique.

After performing the gynecomastia surgery by liposuction, I apply a pressure dressing to prevent bleeding for two days. The patient will feel more comfortable once the dressing is removed. Absorbable sutures are used, so there is no need for suture removal. If necessary, 1-2 sutures may be removed after 1 week. Drain is not used in this technique, which increases patient comfort and allows them to continue their daily life. Pain is minimal after the surgery, and only a sensation of tightness may occur. After one week, even at its most swollen state, there will be an admirable result. After one month, the surgery will not be noticeable when clothes are removed, and any hardness felt will improve within three months. It is necessary to wear a corset for about one month, and after six months, the patient will have reached their best appearance as if they had not had surgery.

Patients can usually return to their normal lives the day after surgery, as there is minimal pain, ache, or burning after the gynecomastia surgery.

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and potential complications associated with gynecomastia surgery by liposuction.
